Manage the daily operations of the coding area

Manage the DNFB within goal

Education programs for the coding staff, medical staff and CDI staff

Recruit and train new coders

Develop, implement and monitor compliance of coding policies, procedures and queries

Schedules coders for appropriate coverage for vacations, holidays and illness

Timely completion of evaluations and other HR and regulatory requirements.

Work closely with the CBO and M Care Solutions on coding issues

Work with IS, CPSI, SMART and 3M when computer issues are detected

Keep up with Regulatory and coding requirements

Run, correct and timely submission of OSHPD reporting

Backup for the Director in their absence

Other tasks as requested by the Director


Bachelor degree in healthcare administration or related field highly preferred

Must possess current CCS with RHIT or RHIA preferred

At least two years supervisory or management experience in an acute care hospital setting

Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and team building skills

Minimum of five years coding experience in an acute care hospital setting with coding all patient and payer types with emphasis on inpatient and Medicare

Trained in ICD-10 CM/PCS

Demonstrated experience in accurately assigning ICD-9, DRG, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding

Knowledge of 3M encoder preferable

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions

Must be able to work in a very challenging environment

Must have completed Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and coding courses including ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT courses
