Job Summary: Reporting directly to the Manager of Patient Access in Main Admissions, the FINANCIAL COUNSELING/ SELF-PAY TEAM LEAD is responsible for admitting activities related to the collections, screening, and first-line contact for all self-pay and in-house patient population. Additional responsibilities include the management and daily communication with the Risarc Vendor, monitor accounts for proper charity approvals, QueensCare eligibility, Medi-Cal Restricted eligibility, and other financial assistance programs available. Other responsibilities will include weekly preparation, sampling, research and distribution of the FC Summary and Risarc Performance Summary Report, ONTRAC worklist, and co-ownership of the bi-weekly In-House High Dollar (IHHD) Meeting.

  • Certification:

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support card from American Heart Association)
  • LA City fire card within 6 months of employment
  • Experience:

  • Three years hospital registration experience required. Supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Knowledge / Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Computer skills, 45 wpm. 
  • Strong knowledge of billing and insurance including Medicare and Medi-Cal guidelines.
