Process Engineer- coatings

Leader in chemical and optical sensor development is seeking a process development engineer with experience developing roll-to-roll spray coating systems.
Our clients are working on R&D projects for government agencies, defense, aerospace and space clients. Current sensor development programs include aerospace projects (monitoring breathing gases in spacesuits, detecting metal ions in drinking water in microgravity environments), defense projects (monitoring breathing gases, hydration, and physiology of aircraft pilots) and medical device development (chemically sensitive smart needles, implantable chemical monitoring devices, wearable blood chemistry monitors).
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering. Advanced degree preferred 3+ years experience in developing spray coating and/or roll-to-roll manufacturing systems
Individually designed electrochemical deposition system and/or atomic spraying pyrolysis systems a big plus. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for spray coating including experience in defining system requirements and generating high level designs for manufactuirng systems Technical knowledge of chemical sensors or a closely related field such as optical sensing or analytical chemistry Ability to lead projects, including managing direct reports and technical responsibilities Strong oral and written skills and the ability to effectively communication with sponsors and customers Experience in R&D from a regulated industry such as aerospace or medical devices
The Process Development Engineer will: Develop manufacturing processes for spray coating and roll-to-roll manufacturing Design production systems to produce chemical sensors Modify systems designs for specific end-use cases Coordinate with subcontractors on the manufacturing processes Perform technical and analytical evaluation of manufacturing processes delivered by subcontractors Integrate manufacturing processes/systems into active and future programs and projects* The salary listed in the header is an estimate based on salary data for similar jobs in the same area.
